A Little Bit of News…

You may have noticed I’ve been a little quiet over here on the blog lately, and that’s for good reason. For the past year, my boyfriend Kyle and I have been quietly working on an idea–an idea that started with the dream and the hope that one day, we would escape the rat race, leave our 9-to-5’s, and be our own boss.

I’m happy to say that we are one step closer to building that dream as of today. Or really, as of a couple of months ago, when I launched Lolo’s Photos and started my photography business. But the point of today is not to talk about Lolo’s. Today, I am so, SO excited to announce that we have officially launched our own entertainment outlet, Music & Mojitos.

Music & Mojitos was born from the desire for high-quality content in a world that thrives on clickbait. We am to be positive and empathetic in a society that promotoes division and negativity. Above all, we hope that you will consider us your go-to source for entertainment journalism as we continue to grow, expand, and build on our dream.

Topics that Music & Mojitos will cover include music festivals, artist interviews, concerts, food + drink, opinion, art – pretty much everything that we were writing about before, but for various outlets that were not our own. While our initial focus will be in our home city of New York, we will expand coverage as we continue to grow.

We know that it’s going to be a challenge – starting something new is never easy, and the road will be full of ups and downs, successes and failures. We know what lies ahead, and we are prepared. We are also prepared to not give up until we achieve what we’ve set out to achieve.

That being said – dear readers and friends of Girl in Gotham City – don’t fret! I’m still going to be working on the blog. I don’t want to limit myself with what I can/can’t write about on my own blog, but I do envision a slight shift towards more lifestyle/everyday life/living in New York as a nearly-thirty-something topics, and less of a focus on events/things to do in NYC. Those topics and recommendations will now be found over on Music & Mojitos. I also plan on working on a redesign of the site at some point to streamline visuals and content, so stay tuned for that in the upcoming year.

To see what all the fuss is about, please check out Music & Mojitos here, or find us on Instagram and Facebook. We’d love some feedback, so feel free to drop us a comment and let us know what sorts of things you’d like to see on the outlet.

Have you ever started a new venture? Was it scary or exciting or both? How did you conquer your fears of failure (or success)? I’d love to hear your stories in the comments!

“Music & Mojitos was born from the desire for high-quality content in a world that thrives on clickbait. We am to be positive and empathetic in a society that promotes division and negativity.” ALL. THE. YES!!!

    Brava on this new endeavor!!

For me, venturing in the world of blogging was a lot more terrifying than I had anticipated. The idea of having my thoughts and opinions displayed in such a public way brought on an army of negative thoughts, like “why would anyone care about this?” But, at the end of the day, I’ve found that your passion reads through to others, and if I can provide some kind of tiny impact on at least one person with each post, then it’s well worth it :).

Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment! I think you are such a great writer that it’s like…of COURSE Becky should have a blog! But I also totally get that we tend to believe the critical voices in our head more than those of our loved ones sometimes. Anyways, I am SO proud of you for taking on this new venture and tackling the challenges of blogging, website building, and SEO – not least of all because I benefit from the pleasure of reading your posts 😉
